| SMD Double
Splice Tape for 8 mm Component Tapes. No down times because of accurate
joining. Tape Connectors guarantee perfect and reliable joints in
8 mm SMD tapes. Joining without any tools or fixtures, with precise
pitch spacing, with convenient pre-cut length. Siemens AG developed
and patented the SMD Double Splice Tape. It is supplied in short
length, ready for r use. |

After peeling
off the upper tape the raised dots of the clear plastic carrier
engage with the sprocket holes and align the SMD tape ends perfectly
with each other and the joining tape. The first adhesive tape then
joins up the SMD cover tape ends. The perforated centre line of
the carrier, later to be discarded, helps in folding the connector
around the component tape, providing further alignment and joining
from the other side. SMD Double Splice Tape can also be supplied
in continuous lengths for individual cutting on site.

SMD cover tape extenders have been developed
to enable pick and place machine users to use component tapes in
full reels or short sections, without any available leader, and
not waste a single component. The tape extender gives you over 15
inches of non-adhesive film to start through the tape feeder. Removing
the cover paper reveals the adhesive side of the yellow tape, whose
mark is aligned with the front edge of the component tape and stuck
unto its cover tape. The non-adhesive, transparent end of the Polyester
foil strip can now be fed into the tape feeder. There is enough
length available (over 15 inches) not to have to discard components
in the process. The bond between the tape extender and the original
cover tape is sufficient to ensure that they will not separate,
even after prolonged time under tension. Three widths are available
and packed in special cartons.
